Alone On Valentine's Day

A Book won't argue with you, and you don't have to dress up for it.

I made a choice
To be
Single
One and alone.
I am Happy
to be with
Me in the
Comfort of my
Warm home.

I don't have
To get dressed up
I don't have to
Worry about
A date.
I am glad
To be secure
And safe
Without an
Unhappy
Mate.

I've got
My warm
fuzzy slippers on.
I've got
my Pillows
Propping me up
I am settled
With a good movie
And some
Cocoa in my Cup.

I can sleep
If I want to,
The cable Tube
Is turned on.
With my cell
On Buzz
I don't need
A 'Fred',
A 'Bob',
Or a 'John'.

Just me
And a Good
Book will
Keep me quite
Sane,
And I don't
Need to
Hear a
Whining man
Complain.

Even though
I may be
Spending
This holiday
All by myself,
I am
Keeping
Trouble
Tucked away
On the
Top Shelf!

Very nice poem CM. You are now officially my favorite hubster on HubPages. I can truly identify with you as far as the being alone thing. So many of us are afraid of being by ourselves because many of us know that we are so full of crap, that if we are left alone, we just may be forced to take a long look at ourselves and come to some realizations about ourselves. I am at the stage in my life CM, where a good meal and a good night's rest are the two best things in life. A good book is also on that list.

I want to thank you all for such wonderful comments. Being by myself is such an accomplishment, standing alone and independent is a terrific success for me. I am not being selfish but smart. It is so nice not to have to be misread, misled, and misunderstood. I am taking good care of me this year!

You rock! Being alone sometimes ( or most of the time may be) can be so enjoy...who says being alone cannot be celebrated, instead...it can be enjoyed to the full...cheers Christina, take good care of yourself, be blessed...with love...
