The Challenge Of Staying Safe In Your Surroundings
64
Recently in our local news, it was told that at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, during an average day in the Outpatient Department, a man brought his elderly Mother to the Doctors. He was given the news that his Mother would not recover by not being able to walk again. In the news story, it was told that this man shot the physician, then he shot his mother, the patient. Afterward, the man shot himself. As I was acquainted with people who were in the actual location of this terrible crime on that day, I immediately felt concern of the anxiety and fear levels that the hundreds of people who work in that facility.
It is truly the shame that some one could only handle their stress with a weapon such as a handgun. Such crime had already been committed in the heart of that man, by contemplation, and then by following through. If only he could have felt safer. His intolerance to reality took him to the limit.
My prayers for all those who were involved go out. I can only ask God to forgive his soul and only the Lord knows his true spiritual position before his tragedy occurred. But what about the rest of the population who is to react to such a violent situation? Some may be angered, some may be fearful. I know that the believers in Christ have the solution right in their hands.
There is POWER in Prayer and Thanksgiving. Thank God for the very breath in your body to produce an appreciation for the life that God has given you. Thank the Father God for the birth of His Son Jesus and for the true purpose why He came to this earth and died and suffered on the cross for us in order to receive the Promise of Salvation. And, importantly, Forgive others and ask God to forgive our wrongdoings to Cover yourself from the wiles of the evil plots and actions made by certain individuals out in the community.
The following verses are prayerful thoughts. Read them audibly and to present them to God in the Name of His Son Jesus. He is there listening. He shows delight in Prayers by bestowing Grace and Mercy on those who seek Him with diligence.
PSALM 23
The LORD IS MY SHEPHERD.
I SHALL NOT WANT.
HE MAKETH ME LIE DOWN IN GREEN PASTURES HE LEADETH ME BESIDE THE STILL WATERS.
HE RESTORETH MY SOUL:
HE LEADETH ME IN THE PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR HIS NAME SAKE.
YEA, THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH I WILL FEAR NO EVIL.
FOR THOU ART WITH ME THY ROD AND THY STAFF THEY COMFORT ME.
THOU PREPAREST A TABLE BEFORE ME IN THE PRESCENCE OF MINE ENEMIES:
THOU ANOINTED THIS HEAD WITH OIL; MY CUP RUNNETH OVER.
SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY WILL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE:
AND I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER.
Total trust in God Who is our Savior and Who loves us will surely lead us to an Increase of faith. In order to function in life without total fear of the enemy we must be motivated. He is OMNIPOTENT and OMNIPRESENT. He created the heavens and the earth and all that within it It is up to us to make the environment work. And the more you speak to God, in every situation, the more that he will show up when hostility is present.

The first time I was in the presence of This darkness I looked into dark eyes and saw emptiness. Only fury lay wasted within This mind. Nothing to offer from a soul so Insensitive. Not even a summer heat...

The 23 Psalm has always been a comfort for me, especially in times of anxiousness. I simply picture myself lying beside the still waters, and in seconds the anxiousness fades away.
Brother Dave.
YES! I heard about this. Oh my goodness! Horrible, just horrible. P.S. I love Psalm 23 (and 27). Thanks for giving me more details about the John Hopkins incident.

Hi CMC - It's a very sad story that you've shared with us and it reminds us of how such problems and worries within us can build up and lead to the manifestation of heinous acts that we might not commit if someone had been there earlier for us to lessen the burdens that we were facing.
It's depressing to see and hear people reaching the end of their tether and feeling so desperate enough to take the lives of others, especially their own loved ones. Unfortunately this will go on and the only way that this can be prevented is by reaching out to these people earlier and being sympathetic to their situation and doing all that is possible to help them.
Thanks for sharing your important message in this hub.
