Wishing Grandma Was There- A poem
62Dedication
This Poem is Dedicated to all my beloved relatives who can not celebrate Christmas with us, the ones who have separated, moved away, and those who have passed away. Especially to my paternal Grandmother, Eufemia A. Castro, whom I will always miss so much. I love you, Grandma.
I Missed Grandma on Christmas Day.
- My Most Favorite Christmas Traditions
Since I was about eleven years old, my parents have invited family over for dinner and opening presents up around the tree. It was a chance to get an early start to the celebration without my aunts and uncles...
Who was Absent From The Party?
I am sorry you
Missed the party.
I understand there
Was a good reason.
Illness?
Separation?
Infidelity?
Was it because
That special someone
We don't see
Is no longer with us?
You'll be missed.
We are getting older.
Other things to do.
Maybe they moved
Too far away.
Maybe the employer
Said, BAH HUMBUG!
You have to
Go to
Work anyway.
There's an empty chair.
The space under the
Christmas tree
Once held that present.
The Fine Wine,
The Fine Dine,
The fun conversations-
Not the same without you.
If you don't
Answer your phone,
I'll pray for you.
Your presence
Will be missed.
But only
God knows
How we can
Still celebrate.
We'll still have
Joy celebrating.
The holiday will
Continue to be
If I see you or not.
But the
MEMORIES-
Yes: Priceless.
How I feel about you:
You will always exist
In My Heart.

Beautiful poem with sad message Twin Sis. Christmas is always a time of happiness tinged with the sadness of those loved ones absent from our lives. I'm sure your grandmother is smiling down at you.
